卓泗故居及合众银行
这里是南峇街门牌26号,是1950至60年代居銮华社先驱及客家领袖人物
卓泗先生的故居。卓先生也是居銮客家公会首任会长(1937-1958)。
1947年担任中华商会第二任会长。1955年倡组柔佛州嘉应会馆。
1960年代中期开始至80年代末,这座建筑物也曾是号称当年马来西亚三
大银行之一的合众银行(UMBC,创立于1959年)旧址,该银行由福建
同安人张明添与一群华裔商人创办。历经几度转手和重组,改名森那美
银行,最后再度重组为兴业银行。
The former residence of Zuo Shi (1894-1963) and the original site of UMBC Bank
The former residence of Zuo Shi, a Chinese pioneer and Hakka leader of Kluang between 1950s to 1960s is located here at No.26, Jalan Lambak. Zuo was also the first president of the Hakka Association in Kluang (1937-1958). He became the second president of Kluang Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry. In 1955, he proposed to found Jia Ying Association of Johor. From 1960s until end of 1980s, this building also served as the office for UMBC Bank (established in 1959), one of the three major banks in Malaysia at that time. The bank was founded by Chang Ming Thien (originated from Hokkien Tong An) and a group of Chinese merchants. It had changed hands and had been reshuffled as Sime Bank. Finally, it was reshuffled and renamed as RHB.
