Guo Xin, also known as Guo Jing Chuan, was one of the Hainanese pioneers in Kluang. He owned more than 4000 acres of rubber estate in Kluang, Paloh and Sri Lalang. He founded Qiong Qiao Association (today’s Hainan Association) and rented the upper floor at No. 2 Jalan Lambak as the association’s club house. At the end of 1930s, the British colonial government had sta-tioned troops here, at the same time set up military camps and airport, thus Kluang became an important military town. The famous Hainanese, Fu Bai Kai, who was the pioneer of Tourism and Dining industry in Kluang, hat set up a restaurant and hotel named “White House” As the first hotel and western restaurant in Kluang, it became a popular place among the British senior officers.
