The former residence of Teoh Siew Kor (1887-1951)

Teoh Siew Kor and his son Teoh Chze Chong were both conferred with the title “Dato”. Teoh Siew Kor, originated from Hokkien Yong Choon, was one of the Chinese pioneers in Kluang. Teoh Siew Kor was formerly the state senator, in memory of his contribution to the district, Jalan Dato Teoh Siew Khor was named after him. His son, Teoh Chze Chong was formerly the parliament member of Kluang and Southern Segamat, as well as the director of Chong Hwa High School, Kluang. He had instructed the British army to voluntarily make the school’s land shovel ready, that shaped the landscape of the beautiful campus today. The title “Qing He” on the two buildings at No. 16 & 18 Jalan Lambak indicates the noble pre-fecture origin of the Teoh family.
